Proventigen, a Reno, Nevada, based nutraceutical company, today announced that the company has entered into a long-term licensing agreement with Verdure Sciences to use Longvida® Optimized Curcumin, a highly absorbable Curcumin compound developed by a prestigious team of Southern California medical researchers studying Alzheimer’s disease.

In addition to the Longvida® Optimized Curcumin licensing agreement, Proventigen announced it has signed a licensing agreement to use POMELLA®, a natural and patented pomegranate extract in its product line. POMELLA® was also developed by leading medical researchers in an effort to have a reproducible and superior absorbing pomegranate extract.

Proventigen’s proprietary formulations feature ingredients with superior absorption profiles that focus on Brain Health, Breast/Prostate Health, Colon Health and Joint Health.

Both Longvida® Optimized Curcumin and POMELLA® pomegranate extract are used in Proventigen’s Selective Response Modulators™ (SRM) formula, the company’s flagship product.

“A elite team of medical researchers from a prestigious Southern California Medical School, discovered a natural and patented process to enhance Curcumin’s absorption and deliver it to the blood stream and brain at meaningful and therapeutic levels all without the use of piperine, a black pepper extract that can interfere with the metabolism of many drugs,” said Dr. Michael Nelson, Chief Science Officer, Proventigen. “We looked at numerous Curcumin extracts during our search to create Proventigen SRM™, and Longvida® Optimized Curcumin stood heads and tails above the rest.”

Researchers from around the globe have been feverishly trying to develop new methods to allow Curcumin to better absorb in the human body due to the Curcumin’s ability to influence some of the major pathways associated with Alzheimer’s disease, Cancer and Inflammation.

Longvida® Optimized Curcumin has 65 times the absorption of other Curcumin products and was shown in laboratory studies to cross the blood brain barrier. These findings spurred funding for two National Institutes of Health (NIH) studies looking at Alzheimer’s disease and the use of Longvida® Optimized Curcumin. Researchers at a leading Southern California School of Medicine have been working to develop Longvida® Optimized Curcumin with high absorption for more than two years before they were able to demonstrate their positive findings

POMELLA® is a natural and patented pomegranate extract that has superior absorption levels and antioxidant capacity compared to other pomegranate extract or pills on the market today. POMELLA® has been shown to increase antioxidant support in humans by over 30% in 30 minutes after ingestion. Unlike other pomegranate products, POMELLA® contains high levels of polyphenol antioxidants that will not breakdown due to its patented natural composition.

“Pomegranates polyphenols have a profound influence on key pathways that we are interested in such as aromatase, quinone reductase and CYP1B1 — all which we target in Proventigen SRM™,” added Nelson. “POMELLA® is the ultimate phytochemical and has been clinically researched to show that its punicalagins are preserved, enter the body intact, and are able to release ellagic acid into the bloodstream. No other pomegranate pill or extract on the market even comes close to matching POMELLA®.”

Proventigen Selective Response Modulators™ (SRM) formula contains a proprietary blend of patent-pending Longvida® Optimized Curcumin, patented POMELLA® pomegranate extract, N-aceytlcysteine (NAC) and B-vitamins including Folinic Acid, Methylcobalamin and B6. This unique blend of pharmaceutical grade compounds support pathways to optimal health!

Proventigen Supports Key Pathways for Breast Health

Every 13 minutes, someone dies of breast cancer

Breast health begins with supporting proper estrogen metabolism in breast tissue. Because there is a direct link to imbalanced estrogen metabolism and breast health it is important to support these pathways.

Imbalances in estrogen metabolism can mutate breast tissue DNA that can set the stage for improper cellular replication. Supporting estrogen metabolism is critical to minimize DNA damage and beast health.

Studies have shown that DNA damage occurs in breast tissue as a result of imbalances estrogen metabolism. Because women are exposed to decades of estrogen proper support is key for breast health. Proventigen Selective Response Modulators™ (SRM) formula supports proper estrogen metabolism by addressing the key pathways involved in breast health.

Key Pathways Involved in Breast Health are:

Aromatase

Quinone Reductase

Glutathione

CYP1B1

Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT)

Proventigen’s SRM™ blend is a comprehensive approach that naturally supports proper estrogen metabolism and balance in the body. Letting Nature Nurture.

Curcumin, CYP1B1 and Breast Health

Curcumin Reduces the Biotransforming Enzyme CYP1B1

Curcumin is a superstar when it comes to the many hats it wears. Curcumin supports breast health by reducing the biotransforming enzyme CYP1B1.

CYP1B1 is responsible for making the highly reactive estrogen intermediate that can mutate breast tissue DNA. Supporting CYP1B1 may reduce the DNA adduct formations associated with unbalanced estrogen metabolism.

Curcumin is also a potent antioxidant. Elevated oxidative stress has been an underlying theme for many chronic health condition. When oxidative stress (free radicals) are left unchecked, the ideal environment is created to allow DNA damage.

Proventigen SRM™ contains Longvida Optimized Curcumin developed by medical researchers. Proventigen’s Longvida Optimized® Curcumin is 65 times more bioavailable than generic Curcumin and this is achieved without the use of piperine, a potentially toxic agent that is found in many Curcumin formulations.

Estrogen Metabolism, COMT and Breast Health

Catecho-O-methyltransferase (COMT) is a key enzyme involved in estrogen metabolism. COMT is critical enzyme that helps metabolize estrogen into a less genotoxic form that can be DNA damaging. Folate and vitamin B12 help support COMT and estrogen metabolism.

Proventigen’s B-vitamin blend in Proventigen SRM™ was formulated by doctors using specific B-vitamins for estrogen metabolism. Proventigen’s B-complex contains: Folinic Acid (not synthetic folic acid), vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) and vitamin B6 all in the most absorbable forms.

Pomegranates, Aromatase and Breast Health

Researchers have been studying the effects of pomegranates polyphenols and how they may act as a natural aromatase inhibitor. Aromatase is an enzyme that converts testosterone to estrogen. Inhibition of aromatase is a common strategy used today to balance estrogen metabolism.

Ellagitannins in Pomegranates work by Suppressing Aromatase

Proventigen contains POMELLA®, a pomegranate extract that is highly researched and is a rich source of polyphenols. Proventigen’s doctor’s chose POMELLA® pomegranate extract due to the supporting science and superior absorption.

Pomegranates have also been shown to influence another important enzyme in estrogen metabolism: Quinone Reductase. Quinone reductase reduces the highly reactive forms of estrogen that cause DNA mutations known as DNA adducts. By increasing quinone reductase, estrogen is not as likely to cause DNA mutations.

Proventigen’s patented POMELLA® pomegranate extract ensures your body is getting the most researched and absorbable pomegranate extract available to balance estrogen metabolism. Support your breast health with Proventigen SRM™ capsules and powder.

NAC, Antioxidants and Breast Health

Proventigen’s Longvida® Optimized Curcumin was created by a team of elite neuroscientists at a leading Southern California School of Medicine. They knew of Curcumin’s amazing benefits for the health, but also knew of Curcumin’s very poor absorption in the human body. The elite team of medical neuroscientists spent two years perfecting the ability of Curcumin to be absorbed into the bloodstream and brain.

Proventigen’s Longvida® Optimized Curcumin is 65 times better absorbed than generic Curcumin and does not contain piperine. Piperine is a black pepper extract that can interfere with detoxification and cause GI upset.

Proventigen’s Longvida® Optimized Curcumin uses a patent-pending all natural process called Solid Lipid Curcumin Particle or SLCP™. SLCP™ is the ideal absorption-promoting system, based on real, live research data that was repeated over and over using validated analytical methodologies.

Curcumin Facts:

Curcumin has potent anti-fungal actions. In a 2008 study, published in Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (vol. 63 number 2, pg-337-339), researchers reported that Curcumin was twice as potent as the common anti-fungal fluconazole in inhibiting Candida adhering to mucosa

Curcumin binds heavy metals – numerous studies have demonstrated Curcumin’s ability to bind lead, cadmium, iron, copper and other metals

Curcumin increases glutathione levels. Researchers have demonstrated that Curcumin increases glutathione levels in vitro and in vivo

Curcumin has been show to lower TNF-alpha levels

Curcumin supports prostate health by reducing the biotransforming enzyme CYP1B1.

CYP1B1 is responsible for making the highly reactive estrogen intermediate that can mutate prostate DNA. Supporting CYP1B1 reduces the DNA adduct formations associated with unbalanced estrogen metabolism.

Curcumin is also a potent antioxidant. Elevated oxidative stress has been an underlying theme for many chronic condition. When oxidative stress (free radicals) are left unchecked it creates the perfect environment to allow DNA to become mutated. Patent-pending Longvida® Optimized Curcumin is 65 times more bioavailable than regular Curcumin — all without the use of piperine.

B-Vitamins, COMT and Prostate Health

Catecho-O-methyltransferase (COMT) is a key enzyme involved in estrogen metabolism. COMT is critical enzyme that helps metabolize estrogen into a less genotoxic form that can be DNA damaging. Folate and vitamin B12 help support COMT and estrogen metabolism.

Proventigen SRM™ includes B-vitamin blend formulated by doctors using specific B-vitamins for estrogen metabolism. Proventigen’s B-complex contains: Folinic Acid (not synthetic folic acid), vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) and vitamin B6 all in the most absorbable forms.

Pomegranates, Aromatase and Prostate Health

There is growing scientific evidence that pomegranates ellagitannins contain very powerful agents and may play a role in prostate cancer treatment and chemoprevention. Researchers studying the effects of pomegranates polyphenols are looking at how pomegranates and their bioactive metabolites may act as a natural aromatase inhibitor. Aromatase is an enzyme that converts testosterone to estrogen. Inhibition of aromatase is a common strategy used today to balance estrogen metabolism.

POMELLA® Pomegranate Extract Can Inhibit Aromatase and Increase Quinone Reductase. Proventigen SRM™ contains POMELLA®, a pomegranate extract that supports healthy estrogen metabolism.

Proventigen SRM™ contains POMELLA®, a rich source of polyphenols and the most researched and bioavailable pomegranate extract available. Proventigen’s doctor’s chose POMELLA® pomegranate extract due to the supporting science and superior absorption.

Pomegranates have also been shown to increase another important enzyme in estrogen metabolism: Quinone Reductase. Quinone reductase reduces the highly reactive forms of estrogen that cause DNA mutations known as DNA adducts. By increasing quinone reductase, estrogen is not as likely to cause DNA mutations.

Research studies conducted at major medical universities have also shown that daily pomegranate use can support prostate health.

Proventigen’s patented POMELLA® pomegranate extract ensures your body is getting the most researched and absorbable pomegranate extract available to balance estrogen metabolism. Support your prostate health with Proventigen SRM™ capsules or powder.

NAC, Glutathione and Prostate Health

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) supports two very important pathways when it comes to prostate health and estrogen metabolism – CYP1B1 and glutathione.

The CYP1B1 pathway metabolizes estrogen into a highly reactive estrogen that reacts with DNA and can cause mutations. NAC reduces CYP1B1 and supports a less genotoxic estrogen pathway.

The second pathway NAC supports is glutathione. Glutathione is our bodies most abundant and powerful antioxidant and detoxifier.

NAC provides the building blocks to ensure you have enough glutathione in your body and can can bind to estrogen and eliminate it. Proventigen SRM™ contains pharmaceutical grade NAC to support prostate health and estrogen metabolism.

Many people are concerned about maintaining proper brain health. It is estimated that 1 in 4 people in the US are concerned about their neurological health. Proventigen SRM™ capsules or powder are scientifically formulated to support brain health and maintain healthy pathways.

Proventigen’s unique formulation offers a well rounded array of support for brain and nerves, addressing the key pathways involved in neurological health.

Proventigen SRM™ is recommended by doctors and was formulated by doctors.

Proventigen’s Curcumin Developed by Medical Researchers Studying Neurological Conditions

Proventigen SRM™ powder formula contains Curcumin developed by elite medical researchers

An elite group of medical researchers at a leading Southern California School of Medicine have been studying the effects of Curcumin on neurological conditions. Curcumin is a natural substance found in the Indian spice turmeric, which gives curry its rich golden color.

This elite neuroscience medical team was intrigued by Curcumin’s ability to effect key pathways involved in brain health but were faced with significant challenges. It turns out that Curcumin is very poorly absorbed by our bodies, even when given at extremely high dosages (12,000 mg).

Some scientists have tried to trick the body into absorbing Curcumin by using piperine from black pepper, which can irritate the GI track by allowing Curcumin to “leak” inside the blood stream. Piperine has also been shown to interact with key drug metabolizing enzymes that can interfere with medications.

Proventigen's Longvida® Curcumin 65 times more absorbable than regular curcumin -- all without piperine

Researchers at a prestigious Southern California medical school took a completely new approach to achieving Curcumin absorption in the body. They knew if they could place Curcumin inside a natural lipid envelop our bodies could readily absorb it. This task was much easier said then done. After hundreds of attempts and constant refinement and years in the making, UCLA’s team found success.

Not only were they able to make Curcumin 65 times more absorbable than generic Curcumin but they also were able to deliver it to their target – the BRAIN.

This landmark breakthrough with superior absorption has resulted in the patent-pending technology called SLCP™ and a compound known as Longvida® Optimized Curcumin. Proventigen has entered into a long term licensing agreement to use Longvida® Optimized Curcumin across Proventigen’s Selective Response Modulators™ (SRM) formula.

Proventigen’s doctors researched the power of Curcumin and reviewed hundreds of different studies before deciding on Longvida® Optimized Curcumin for Proventigen’s SRM™ formula.

Homocysteine Metabolism – Role of B Vitamins In Brain Health

Elevated homocysteine is considered a neurotoxic substance to the brain. Researchers have linked the elevation of homocysteine levels to a number of conditions. Maintaining healthy homocysteine pathways is important for brain health.

Our bodies use vitamin B12 and folic acid to support and balance homocysteine metabolism. Without sufficient B-vitamins, blood homocysteine levels can rise to harmful levels.

Proventigen’s doctors chose the most bioavailable and absorbable forms of the key B-vitamins for Proventigen’s Selective Response Modulator™ (SRM) formula — Folate (folinic acid, not synthetic folic acid), vitamin B12, (Methylcobalamin) and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) — to support healthy homocysteine metabolism.

Greek philosophers called pomegranates the “Nectar of the Gods.” More recently medical researchers have looked at pomegranates effect on health and disease. Pomegranates are rich in plant chemicals known as polyphenols and unique to pomegranate is the polyphenols known as punicalagins.

Because punicalagins are known for their powerful antioxidant abilities, they have been studied for their effects in neurological health.

Proventigen’s doctors were impressed with the scientific support for pomegranates and set out to find the most research and bioavaialable pomegranate extract available. POMELLA® is a patented pomegranate extract with numerous scientific studies showing its superior absorption and antioxidant capacity.

Curcumin is the active ingredient of the popular Indian spice turmeric, which is a member of the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). The other two active components (curcuminoids) are desmethoxycurcumin and bis-desmethoxycurcumin. The curcuminoids are polyphenols and are provide the deep yellow color of turmeric.Curcumin has a long history of use in both India Ayurvedic Medicine and in Aisa in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Over the past decade Curcumin has gain the attention of many medical researchers due to its potent health inhancing effects.[]

Researchers in such diverse disciplines as cancer and Alzheimer’s disease have taken an interest to better understand and fund clinical trials on Curcumin effects. While Curcumin has been call “a superstar” among botanicals, it has had one major draw back. That major draw back has to do with Curcumins poor absorption. Scientists were able to demonstrate incredible health promoting properties of Curcumin in a test tube but when the gave it to living animals including humans they were disappointed with the results due to this poor absorption.

Recently an elite team of medical researchers studying Alzheimer’s disease at UCLA began trying to improve Curcumins absorption. They spent nearly two years and hundreds of attempts in trying creating a more absorbable Curcumin. The team of neuroscientist wanted to avoid using a common additive from black pepper called piperine as this can cause drug interactions. After constant and steady refinement, the UCLA team achieved what they had set out to do. Not only were they able to make Curcumin more absorbable but they were also able to deliver Curcumin to the target tissue….in there case this was the brain. The result is Proventigens Longvida optimized Curcumin. Proventigens Longvida optimized Curcumin is 65 times more absorbable than regular Curcumin, doesnt contain any piperine, volitle oils and is the subject of two current NIH Alzheimers studies!

Proventigens Longvida optimized Curcumin uses a patent pending process called Solid Lipid Curcumin Particle or SLCP. This process uses all natural lipids to surround the Curcumin allowing for superior absorption……65 times better absorption! Superior absorption with using any harsh solvents, chemicals or preservatives….all ingredients are GRAS…Generally Recognized As Safe.
